PRE-OPERATIVE INSTRUCTIONS
Local Anesthesia
- Take regular medications (blood pressure medications, antibiotics, etc.) and/or any medicine given to you by your doctor.
- Refrain from using tobacco or alcohol products.
- For more extensive procedures you may need to be accompanied by a responsible adult to drive you to and from the doctor’s office. You will be notified during your pre-operative visit if this will be required.
Nitrous Oxide
- Light food and drink four (4) hours prior to the procedure.
- Take regular medications (blood pressure medications, antibiotics, etc.) and/or any medicine given to you by your doctor using only small sips of water.
- Refrain from using tobacco or alcohol products.
- It would be best to be accompanied by a responsible adult to drive you to and from the doctor’s office. You will be notified during your pre-operative visit if this will be required.
IV Sedation or IV Deep Sedation (General Anesthesia)
- No food or drink for at least eight (8) hours prior to the procedure.
- Take regular medications (blood pressure medications, antibiotics, etc.) and/or any medicine given to you by your doctor using only small sips of water.
- Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing. Short sleeves and flat, closed-toed shoes are required.
- Females: Remove nail polish and makeup before surgery. Avoid dresses or skirts.
- Refrain from using tobacco or alcohol products.
- You MUST be accompanied by a responsible adult to drive you to and from the doctor’s office and he/she will stay with you and after the procedure until you are recovered sufficiently to care for yourself.
- Do not drive, operate complicated machinery or devices, or make important decisions such as signing documents, etc.
